Differences emerged in JKT like-minded group after Buzdar given free hand in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has started political activities to foil the opposition’s no-confidence motion, whereas, differences have emerged amongst the Jahangir Khan Tareen like-minded group.

Just after the activation of Usman Buzdar, cracks appeared in the JKT like-minded group ahead of no-confidence motion as some of their members expressed concerns over the expected nomination of former Punjab minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan for the position of chief minister.

In the recent developments, Asif Nakai of JKT group has decided to hold meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Punjab minister Asif Nakai had joined Jahangir Khan Tareen groups and attended its meeting along with several other lawmakers.

Asif Nakai was followed by Khurram Leghari who had rejected JKT group’s demand to remove Usman Buzdar from office through a no-confidence motion.

News360 had earlier reported that Punjab CM Usman Buzdar was given the free hand by Prime Minister Imran Khan to independently perform his duties for the province after rejecting the demands of Jahangir Khan Tareen’s like-minded group.

Sources told News360 that PM Khan had given the free hand to Punjab CM Usman Buzdar to independently go ahead with the plan to contact lawmakers from the opposition parties.

Vote of no-confidence against PM: procedures and challenges to opposition, govt

The premier directed CM Buzdar to contact Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) lawmakers in Punjab besides ordering him to gain the confidence of the legislators from the ally party, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q).

Sources said that the PML-N Punjab lawmakers are expected to support the current chief minister who had been given development funds by Buzdar administration for their constituencies. The PTI-led government in Punjab is having a strong position to get support of a number of members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) of PML-N and PML-Q, sources added.

Separately, PM Imran Khan also directed PTI lawmakers to gain support of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lawmakers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) ahead of the no-trust move proceedings.
