‘Disguised’ KP CM Continues Surprise Raids

The chief minister’s surprise visits to government offices and police stations have acted as a buffer in corruption

In what is unlikely in Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan disguised himself and continued surprise raids as he visited different police stations of Peshawar last week.

During his visit, the chief minister expressed anger on dysfunctional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in  the police stations he visited. He directed the related staff to fix the cameras at the earliest.

The chief minister also turned angry when he inspected the cleanliness condition of the police stations.

KP CM lauded Faqeerabad police station staff over satisfactory arrangements and organized records.

The latest visit to police stations was in a succession of Mahmood Khan’s disguised visits to the government offices and police stations.

Earlier on May 24, the chief of the provincial government had impersonated himself and paid a surprise visit to Peshawar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office.

The official impersonated as a normal citizen and waited for his turn in the queue as he observed the surroundings.

He had also caught the officials of the license branch who were charging Rs 1,000 from arms-license applicants instead of Rs 350 fees.

The chief minister’s surprise visits to government offices and police stations have acted as a buffer in corruption and intimidation on part of the corrupt public servants has resulted in better performance.
