Public, Lawmaker Hold Divergence on Lahore Incident
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had said in a verdict that women in Pakistan are entitled to equal protection of the law regardless of their sexual character or reputation
The incident that took place on independence day at Greater Iqbal Park with Ayesha Akram has sparked a debate among the citizens and public representatives.
News360 reached out to the visitors at Minar-e-Pakistan who were of the view that the incident with Ayesha Akram has portrayed a negative image of Pakistan globally.
A local said that no matter what Ayesha was wearing and why she was there, the molestation of a woman is not acceptable.

A female visitor expressed that Ayesha did all this for publicity. “She wanted fame and that’s it”, she added.
One of the citizens demanded an investigation into where the security officials were when the incident took place.
Most of the visitors remarked that they feel safe with their families at the park but demanded justice for Ayesha.
In a verdict in a case, Supreme Court (SC) Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that women in Pakistan are entitled to equal protection of the law regardless of their sexual character or reputation.
“No one has the license to invade her person or violate her privacy on the ground of her alleged immoral character”, he wrote in the order.
As soon as the videos about the Lahore incident surfaced on social media, the netizens came up with controversial theories against the victim.
Most of the social media users blamed Ayesha for reaching the spot all alone. Meanwhile, a few also claimed that the incident was actually a planned publicity stunt.
Joining the bandwagon, Senator Mian Ateeq posted a victim-blaming post on Twitter.
The senator, while discussing the previous two women violence cases, asserted that in Usman Mirza’s case, the boy and girl were the actual culprits.

He also blamed Noor Mukadam for being alone with his boyfriend at his residence.
As per his views, blaming Pakistani society in both incidents is erroneous.
