KARACHI: The investigation officer (IO) of the Dua Zehra case, Shaukat Shahani, submitted a report to the judicial magistrate East.
At the City Court, Dua Zehra’s father’s lawyer appeared in the hearing. The court questioned IO about the paragraphs regarding the case.
Shaukat Shahani replied that the police department took permission from the Sindh home department to produce Zaheer Ahmed and a team went to Lahore to arrest the accused, recover the abductee.
The investigating officer sought more time to produce Zaheer before the court, recover the abducted girl and and submission of the challan.
The district prosecutor apprised the court that the additional district and sessions court ordered to remove IO Shahani and he will not be considered as the investigation officer in the case now.
The court questioned the district prosecutor regarding the paragraph of the challan. Earlier, the investigating officer (IO) Saeed submitted a challan regarding the dismissal of the case which was rejected by the court.
The judge remarked that the appellate court has the jurisdiction to handle such cases. The government lawyer said that the special courts only handle gender-based cases.
Later, the hearing was adjourned for a while at the request of the lawyer as the petitioner’s lawyer Jibran Nasir was not present there.
