KARACHI: After major progress in the Dua Zehra case, her father’s lawyer Jibran Nasir showed serious concerns over the meeting of strangers with the girl at Dar-ul-Aman [women shelter homes] and police inaction to arrest the prime suspect Zaheer Ahmed.

In recent developments, the courts in Karachi including the Sindh High Court (SHC) and the district and sessions court ordered to bring Dua Zehra to Karachi from Lahore for the next proceedings, whereas, Zaheer Ahmed was also present here.

Major progress made on Dua Zehra case

Yesterday, SAPM to PM on Human Rights Salman Sufi said in a tweet that the Punjab government has been requested to facilitate The production order of Dua Zehra and assist Sindh Child Protection Bureau in safely transporting the child back to Karachi. He added, “She is kept safe & no one except court authorized persons are allowed to meet.”

Following Sufi’s tweet, Jibran Nasir wrote on Twitter, “Extremely questionable proceedings of the Concerned Magistrate at Lahore who on application of a complete Stranger has allowed her to meet Dua-e-Zahra at Darul Aman to get Vakalatnamas signed whereas kept our application to intimate Court abt Hon SHC order in pending.”

In another tweet, Nasir questioned, “No protective bail was granted to accused Shabbir brother of Zaheer in #DuaZahra case to best of our knowledge. He wasn’t arrested on his way to Court. Interim bail given till 26Jul subject to submission of surety, but no surety submitted today. Still no arrest?”

Analysts also raised questions over the meeting of a YouTuber Zunaira Maham along with an alleged lawyer Ali Jaffery with Dua Zehra at the Dar-ul-Aman. They expressed suspicions that the influential gang was behind the development of brainwashing the girl before her appearance in the Karachi courts.

They also said that the Sindh medical examination report of Zehra is likely to be challenged and the alleged abductors will try to demand a new medical examination of the girl in Punjab.
