Dua Zehra case: Parents’ lawyer seeks police probe records
The lawyer representing Dua Zehra’s parents has sought possession of police probe record which was accepted by the trial court.
KARACHI: The lawyer representing Dua Zehra’s parents has sought possession of police probe record which was accepted by the trial court.
The government lawyer argued that the file could not be given before the final trial and a lawsuit should be filed to get the file. The lawyer added that the file could be given to the petitioner only after the court orders.
The judge questioned the investigation office (IO) regarding the number of copies of police file. Later, the court directed the provision of police file to the petitioner.
The hearing is currently underway.
Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) central leader and Sindh minister Syeda Shehla Raza had announced to continue the legal battle for the recovery of Dua Zehra.
Shehla Raza told News360 that she wants to interact with the masses for many days but fails to do it due to budgetary engagements and the hearings of the cases related to Dua Zehra and Nimra Kazmi.
Syeda Shehla Raza expressed disappointment over the verdict given by the court. She questioned the expertise of the judges who heard the cases. Ms Raza said that it was being said the judges used to hear civilian cases like taxation instead of having expertise in the criminal cases.
The PPP leader said that she also felt disappointment after the verdicts as the courts did not acknowledge the efforts by the complainant. “We had not properly fought the legal battle for their abduction and [controversial] marriages of the girls as yet. One of the girls was produced after 51 days and another girl was produced after 45 days.”
“A girl who comes to us after 51 days will not listen to our stance and girls usually don’t speak a lot. This is what happened [in the courts]. But the judges, despite having the relevant documents and seeing the return of the girl after 51 days, did not give any importance and ordered a medical examination.”
“We have also challenged the medical examination which was accepted and handed over the girl’s custody to them. I have contacted 10 prominent lawyers to give their opinions on the judgement whether it is mandatory to send the girl to Punjab. To this, they said no and opined that the boy should be remanded but it was not ordered.”
She criticised that the girl was sent to Punjab immediately after the verdict. “We have not stepped back from our legal battle. I have asked lawyer Jibran Nasir to pursue the case. GM Qureshi has also asked me that he will also contribute his expertise to this case and asked me not to get disappointed.”
The mysterious disappearance of a girl from Karachi, Dua Zehra and her marriage has troubled not only locals but also overseas nationals around the world.
Even after two months, controversial statements and details about the marriage of Dua Zehra and Zaheer Ahmed are still pouring in through social media which is proving to be wrong as usual after conducting research.
The most annoying thing for social media users is how children can suddenly take such a big step and how a little girl reached Lahore from Karachi and then goes into hiding.
Dua Zehra’s parents are insisting that their daughter is living in a dreadful environment at the hands of the human traffickers, whereas, the girl claimed to be living a happy life after marrying of her own will.
Mehdi Ali Kazmi, Dua Zehra’s father, had also approached the Supreme Court (SC) to challenge the Sindh High Court (SHC) verdict.
