The lawyer of the accused Zaheer Ahmad did not appear in the court for the hearing of the bail application

Jibran Nasir, the lawyer of Mahdi Kazmi, the father of Dua Zehra, the young girl who got married, said that the lawyer of the accused Zaheer Ahmad did not appear in the court for the hearing of the bail application and gave the excuse of rain but he has appeared before the court to seek production of the girl.

Jibran Nasir said in a Twitter message that the pre-arrest bail applications of the accused Zaheer Ahmed and his brother Shabir Ahmed were set for arguments but their lawyer asked for a new date and said that he could not attend the hearing due to rain. He added that the hearing was adjourned till August 1.

He said that after giving an excuse for not appearing in the sessions court for the bail hearing, the lawyer of the accused Zaheer Ahmed appeared before the magistrate today, in which an application was submitted to produce the girl in the court.

It should be noted that Dua Zehra, a young girl from Karachi, went to Lahore and got married to a boy named Zaheer Ahmed, but the girl’s father took a stand that his daughter is 14 years old while the minimum age for marriage in the country is 18.

Mehdi Kazmi’s lawyer continuously struggled to prove that Dua Zehra was underage, while the medical report stated that her age was between 16 and 17 years, which was rejected by Kazmi and his lawyer and filed an application for a new medical examination.

The report of the new medical board made at the request of Mehdi Kazmi’s lawyer stated that Zehra’s age is 15 years, after which, on the instructions of SAPM Salman Sufi, the girl was sent to Karachi and Zaheer Ahmed was recovered.
