The 6.8 magnitude earthquake tremors were mainly felt in the northern regions of the country including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Haripur, Mardan, Chitral, Charsadda and others.
According to reports so far, many people have lost their lives while more than a hundred are injured.

In another incident, a young girl died due to earthquake shocks in Narian area of Abbottabad. The doctors said that the deceased girl has been identified as Sanam Waheed, the girl suffered a heart attack due to which she died.
At least four people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Sheikh Jan Ahmed Khel village of Rizar Tehsil of Swabi District.
Similarly, at least one woman was killed and 23 others injured during the earthquake in Dir Lower.
Officials of Rescue 1122 said that five people, including 65-year-old Qaisar Khan, his wife and three children, were injured when the roof of a house collapsed due to an earthquake in Sheikh Jana village of Swabi district. The injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Rijar.
According to the KPK Central Police Office, one person was injured in the limits of Sadar police station in Mardan and two people were killed in Shamuzai.
On the other hand, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority says that the main Bahrain-Kalam road has been blocked due to a landslide near Karandoke Bridge in Kalam area of Swat.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has also imposed a medical emergency in all hospitals of the province while instructing all staff to be on alert.
According to the information received from Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5 people including 2 women were injured in various incidents, one person was injured in a roof collapse in Swabi, one woman was injured in Lower Dir Nursing Hospital, one woman was injured in a roof collapse in Chitral, in Buner. One person was injured due to roof collapse and one person was seriously injured due to roof collapse in Mardan.
Meanwhile, earthquake tremors were also felt in the mountainous region of Gilgit-Baltistan, where fear and panic spread among the people as a result of landslides. However, no casualty was immediately reported.
Rescue 1122 said that a cattle farm has been damaged by landslides in Yasin Ghazar while several cattle have been reported killed.
Apart from this, the Karakoram highway has been blocked due to landslides in the Harban area of Kohistan in the border area of Diamar district of Gilgit-Baltistan, due to which many people are trapped on both sides.
In a statement, the NDMA feared that the death toll may rise as information is still being gathered from remote areas.
According to initial reports, cracks have appeared in several buildings in Al-Janat Mall in Rawalpindi and Sector E-11 in Islamabad due to the earthquake.
The spokesman of the Ministry of National Health Services said that a high alert has been issued in all major government hospitals of Islamabad. The spokesperson further said that an alert was issued to the hospitals on the instructions of Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel.
The Federal Minister has also directed the management of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Federal Government Polyclinic to ensure all necessary arrangements in this regard.
