Economical Spat: Political Brothers Confront on Twitter

Asad Umar quoted improved economic situation of the country, but Muhammad Zubair denied the facts

A recent tweet by the Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar sparked an ‘economical spat’ between political brothers. Former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair criticized his brother for wrong claims about the economy of Pakistan.

Reviewing the financial status of the country, the head of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) Asad tweeted the details of progress in the first nine months of the current financial year 2020-21.

Appreciating the strategies implemented by the incumbent government, Umar wrote that overall economy was showing an improvement and getting stronger compared to the past.

However, senior PML-N leader Mohammad Zubair disagreed with his brother.

Zubair, without any hesitation, reminded the federal minister that not only inflation but unemployment and poverty were rising in Pakistan.

He added that if the economy was stable, then the growth rate would have reached 4% to 5% instead of the projected 1.5% in 2022, which was one of the lowest in history and region.

PML-N leader recalled that the economic growth was at 5.8% in 2018, however, the situation now was the opposite.

Zubair and Asad Umar are real political brothers and both hold significant positions in their respective parties.

Comparing their political struggle, Asad Umar has a close association with PM Imran Khan and was made the first finance minister after PTI took charge of the government.

He is now serving as the Federal Minister for Planning and the head of National Command and Control Center (NCOC).

Whereas, Muhammad Zubair has close ties with PML-N. During Nawaz regime, he was first given the portfolio of federal minister for privatization and was later made Governor of Sindh.
