ECP decides for further consultations on elections date given by President

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) says that after fixing the date of the elections by the competent authority, the commission is bound to conduct the elections by giving an immediate schedule.

In the meeting presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, the decision of President Arif Alvi to set the date of general elections was discussed in detail.

In the declaration issued by the Election Commission (ECP), it has been said that detailed consideration was given in the meeting after President Arif Alvi fixed the date.

It has been said in the declaration that in the important meeting presided over by the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, the Attorney General, and other legal experts have been advised to take further guidance.

In the announcement of the Election Commission, it has been stated that the Election Commission has invited the Attorney General for a consultation tomorrow for guidance, while the constitutional experts are being selected.

According to the declaration, 2 constitutional and legal experts are being selected for consultation. The commission said that it will continue to decide without any pressure according to the constitution and law.

According to the declaration, the commission is always ready to conduct elections within 90 days according to the constitution and law, but the constitution has nowhere written that the date of the election will be given by the commission.
