Electoral reforms: NA speaker seeks names for parliamentary committee
NA Speaker has sent letters to parliamentary leaders to seek names for the constitution of a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms.

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has sent letters to all parliamentary leaders to seek names from their parties for the constitution of a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms.
The speaker asked the parliamentary leaders to nominate lawmakers within seven days, according to a statement issued by the NA Secretariat on April 28.
It read, “The speaker in his missive wrote that National Assembly in its sitting held on April 16, 2022, a motion under Rule 244(B) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 2007 was adopted to constitute a parliamentary committee to evaluate shortcomings of previous elections and to make recommendations for electoral reforms to ensure that elections are held in a free, fair and transparent manner.”.
The NA speaker sent the letters to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, MQM-P’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, MMA’s Asad Mehmood, Khawaja Muhammad Asif of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Balochistan National Party Mengal (BNP-M) Akthar Mengal, Amir Hoti of Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Ghaus Bux Khan Maher of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Jahoori Watan Party (JWP)’s Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, Sheikh Rashid of Awami Muslim League (AML), Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q)’s Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema and Khalid Magsi of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
