Ex-Punjab CM Hamza Shahbaz still reluctant to return to flood-hit Pakistan
PML-N leader and former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shahbaz is still reluctant to return to Pakistan reeling from flood disasters.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shahbaz is still reluctant to return to Pakistan reeling from flood disasters.
Pakistan is going through a terrible situation in the aftermath of torrential rains and floods in several parts that caused massive loss of lives, properties and crops. South Punjab is also among the flood-hit parts of Pakistan and the incumbent provincial government is busy with relief and rehabilitation activities.
However, the prominent leader of PML-N Punjab, Hamza Shahbaz, is vanished from public appearance and is still reluctant to return to Pakistan from London to take part in flood relief activities. Only Maryam Nawaz along with PML-N leaders is seen visiting and meeting flood victims in different parts of Punjab.
Hamza departed for London on August 4 on a private visit via a private airline after he had to quit the Chief Minister (CM) office following the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC) on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition against the deputy speaker’s ruling and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid’s (PML-Q) Pervaiz Elahi replaced him as the Punjab CM.

Some reports suggested that Hamza’s daughter Samaviyah was suffering from heart disease and was admitted to a hospital in London after her health worsened.
Hamza Shahbaz remained the Punjab CM for 87 days after his election with 197 votes on April 16, however, his election was challenged in court and he was replaced by Pervaiz Elahi.
Hamza Shahbaz re-election: Legal experts say ‘Article 63A was misinterpreted’
Analysts said that the whole political leadership is currently visiting and meeting flood-hit parts of the country but the one who claimed to have a party stronghold in Punjab and had attained a top political position in the province was sitting abroad.
They said that instead of immediately returning to the country for being with the flood victims, Hamza Shahbaz is still staying in London.
Analysts added that Hamza’s move to immediately depart for London after his ouster from CM Office and forthcoming indictment in the money laundering case also raised many eyebrows.
