KP Opens First Climbing Wall Named After Ali Sadpara
The climbing wall has been named after famous mountaineer Ali Sadpara for his contribution for Pakistan
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz brought glad tidings for climbing enthusiasts by constructing 52-feet high first climbing wall at Qayyum Sports Complex in Peshawar possessing technical, speed, and vertical as categories.
The climbing wall has been named after famous mountaineer Ali Sadpara for his contribution for Pakistan.
Previously, Sadpara was also a member of expeditions including first winter and autumn ascents of Nanga Parbat and the first winter ascent of the Pumori Peak in Nepal.
Sadpara, along with his 21-year-old son Sajid accompanied Icelandic mountaineer John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Chilean mountaineer Juan Pablo Mohr Prieto to complete K-2 summit this year.
Due to lack of oxygen, Ali advised Sajid and other members to descend and close the summit.
Pakistani authorities and Sadpara’s family confirmed the death of the mountaineer on February 18th.
The construction of the wall worth a total cost of Rs10 million under the Prime Minister 1,000 Playground Facilities Project.
The officials confirmed that the climbing wall will be constructed by the sports department of KP in different districts including Hayatabad Sports Complex, Mardan Sports Complex, Khairabad tourism spot, Nowshera, and Nowshera Sports Complex, Sports Complex Gunj, Football Stadium, Abbottabad, Kohat Sports Complex, Qazi Mohib Sports Complex Bannu, and Ratta Kulachi Sports Complex, Dera Ismail Khan with a cost of Rs111 million.

KP Sports Secretary Abid Majeed added that the initiative has been taken for young and motivational climbers.
He said internationally qualified coaches will be hired to train players on climbing wall.
The inauguration of the first climbing wall was attended by Director General (DG) Sports KP Asfandyar Khan Khattak, and Project Director of Prime Minister 1000 Playground Facilities Project Murad Ali Mohmand.
Among the participants, national athlete Paras Ahmad was the first one to climb Sadpara Wall as part of demonstration.
