Flood disaster in Pakistan: Convict appeared on TV; ban placed on accused

The ruling PML-N allowed a convict to speak live on TV channels, but placed a ban on live speeches of PTI chief Imran Khan who is just an accused.

Pakistan is currently submerged in flood water, on the other hand, political parties are busy playing politics. The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) allowed the convict to speak live on TV channels, but placed a ban on live speeches of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan despite he is just an accused.

Yesterday, PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif gave a live speech on all channels including PTV to help the flood victims. Sharif said that his heart is filled with grief after seeing the devastation of floods across Pakistan. Helping victims should be a top priority for all of us, he added.

He said that in this difficult time, to heal the wounds of the flood victims, Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz will hold the hands of the suffering humanity together and flood victims will not be left alone.

PTI to approach IHC

PTI will file a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) today that its chairman Imran Khan is going to hold an international telethon to help flood victims, hence the ban on his live speeches should be lifted.

The political party is expected to file the plea before the IHC for seeking an order for the government to lift ban on live telecasts on other channels, including Imran Khan’s PTV, immediately so that they could appeal to the international community for providing aid to Pakistan’s flood victims.

Analysts said that a case has only been made against Imran Khan in which he was only accused and not yet been found guilty.

On the one hand, the incumbent government said that they should not do politics in this hour of grief, on the other hand, Imran Khan’s live address has been banned, while his only aim is to appeal to the international community by providing aid to the flood victims.

Analysts further said that the live speech of Nawaz Sharif, the lifetime leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N), was broadcast yesterday on all the channels of Pakistan including PTV, while he is also a court ad and a proven criminal, if the government If you can allow speech, then why not Imran Khan?
