Fuel price hike: Ishaq Dar opposes PML-N govt’s move

PML-N central leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar has opposed the fuel price hike and said that it was not a good decision.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) central leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar has opposed the fuel price hike and claimed that he was unaware of the decision taken by its own party’s government for increasing petrol and diesel rates.

The PML-N government increased the petroleum products prices up to Rs30, however, Ishaq Dar told anchorperson Gharida Farooqi during a programme that he came to know about the new fuel prices from the media.

He clearly said that it was not a good decision and he gave his opinion to the PML-N leadership against hiking the petrol prices. He said that the changes in the petroleum products prices were apparently made following the talks with International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the approval was given by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Dar said that the nation should be given details of the IMF loan programme signed by the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, promising to completely end the fuel subsidies.

Yesterday, Miftah Ismail announced the hike in petroleum products prices.

Renowned journalists criticised the PML-N government for hiking the petrol and diesel prices.
