Geo News management has registered a case in Labor Court against several journalists and employees including Kashif Mushtaq, Suleman Saadat and Zeeshan Shah who protested against salary increase and timely payment. Journalist organizations have demanded notice from Supreme Court

Largest media group in country, Jang/Geo News, has filed a case against many of its employees, including journalists, in the Labor Court for demanding salary increase and timely payment.
Geo News and Jang Group have registered a case in the Labor Court against several journalists including Kashif Mushtaq, Suleman Saadat and Zeeshan Shah who protested against salary increase and timely payment.
The Karachi Union of Journalists has strongly condemned the sending of court notices to Geo News employees as an “Eid gift” and termed it as a declaration of war between employers and workers.
An Org with a declared bias in favor of democracy under its famous “Geo Asool” has issued notices to its employees for peacefully protesting in favor of their legal demand of an increase in salaries, which has been denied to them for the last seven years. Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastur) has also condemned the legal action taken by Geo News in the National Industrial Relations Commission against the employees for legal, legitimate and peaceful protest.
Journalist Nimat Khan attacked the management of Geo News in one of his Twitter threads. He said that Geo News has acted against its own stated Geo principle, which he condemns.
He said that Geo TV, one of Pakistan’s leading news channels, has taken legal action against eleven of its employees, including journalists, who participated in the Geo Action Committee protests.
Nimat Khan said that the call for protest in Geo News was given by “KUJ Dastur” and all journalist organizations supported it, but Geo News resorted to legal action against the employees on a legitimate demand.
He said that if Imran Aslam, the drafter of Jio Usul, had been alive, he would have been very sad that the channel resorted to legal action against its employees for simply exercising their legal rights.
Taking notice of the matter from the Supreme Court, journalist Nimat said that the Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastur) stands with the journalists and media workers for protesting their legitimate demands.
He said that there is continuous violation of labor laws and human rights in Jang Group, while the salaries of employees and journalists have not been increased for a long time.
Karachi Union of Journalists President Faheem Siddiqui and General Secretary Liaquat Ali Rana including all the members of the Executive Committee have also strongly condemned the move of the Geo News administration.
