Govt Forms Committee to Keep Lid on Artificial Inflation
The main purpose to set up the committee is to establish a centralized database to collect information related to essential food commodities
Keeping in view swelling artificial inflation in the country, President Arif Alvi promulgated an ordinance to form a National Food Security and Management Committee (NFSMC).
As per details, the committee will be headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan to take immediate actions against inflation.
The main purpose to set up the committee is to establish a centralized database to collect information related to essential food commodities.
Along with the PM, provincial chief ministers and chief secretaries will also be part of NFSMC.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister and Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister will be members of the committee.

The committee will be responsible to keep checks and balances on adulteration, artificial inflation, and hoarding.
The sources revealed that the committee will meet twice a year to discuss the inflation situation while PM can call NFSMC meeting anytime if needed.
NFSMC will discuss the price of daily commodities including rice, wheat, flour, lentils, vegetables, cooking oil, meat, and other items.
It is also responsible to decide the price of daily essentials on daily basis and will take decisions in regards to the procurement of these items, their reserves, and supply to the country.
