The federal government has banned the creation of new posts and TA & DA (Travelling Allowance and Dearness Allowance) under its new rigid austerity drive.
The government has introduced rigid austerity measures for the fiscal year 2021-2022 owing to financial constraints.
Under the new policy, the creation of new posts in ministries and divisions to provide jobs to the new generation has been completely banned.
However, it will exclude the posts for development projects and those approved by the competent authority.

The federal ministries, divisions, and departments have been barred from purchasing new vehicles either from the development or non-development budget in the current fiscal year.
However, the procurement of motorcycles, school and college buses, ambulances, and fire tenders will be allowed for all ministries and divisions.
The federal government has also abolished TA & DA for the public servants and instead, it has been made mandatory for them to attend the meetings via video link.
The ban is expected to save millions of rupees to the government expended under the allowance.
The provision of periodicals to the government officials has also been suspended and they would be entitled to only one.
The principal accounting officers (PAOs) have been directed to ensure maintenance of operational expenditures and utility bills at the minimum level.
It will be mandatory for the public servants to use paper from both sides in all official communications as an austerity measure.
A five-member committee headed by additional finance secretary will review the requirement of emergency funds in the ministries only in respect of the ban on the purchase of vehicles or the creation of posts and tender recommendations for it.
It will comprise joint secretary (expenditure) of finance ministry, representative of the related ministry of the basic pay scale (BPS) 20 or above, joint secretary (expenditure) of the ministry, and deputy secretary of the finance division.
