Govt advances to arrest Imran Khan after lodging terrorism case

A terrorism case was lodged against former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for threatening Islamabad Police officers and duty magistrate at Margala police station on the complaint of magistrate Ali Javed under the section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

Late at night, the Ministry of Interior tried to get orders from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to arrest Imran Khan. Sources said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari opposed the arrest.

However, a heavy contingent of police surrounded Bani Gala late at night, no unauthorised person was allowed to enter the area, and only local residents were allowed to use the routes after checking their identity cards.

After the police movement, a large number of PTI workers reached Bani Gala, the residence of Imran Khan, during which the police officials kept taking instructions from the superior officers.

Considering the presence of a large number of PTI workers, the police authorities did not dare to arrest Imran Khan.

According to reports, PTI leader Murad Saeed arrived at Bani Gala on a motorcycle, and he also gave a stirring address to the workers, saying that if there is an attempt to arrest Imran Khan, they will march toward Islamabad, and Rulers will be given tit-for-tat reply.

He had also sent a message on the social networking website Twitter that orders have been issued for the arrest of Imran Khan.

FIR against Khan

The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged after Imran Khan’s speech at a PTI rally at F9 Park by the Margalla police station.

The FIR was registered after the Margalla police station received a written complaint from a resident of G-11/2 alleging a hate speech was delivered by Imran Khan, containing remarks that came under sedition against the army, police and judiciary.

The FIR stated that the PTI chief issued threats to the Additional Sessions Judge of Islamabad and senior police officers to intimidate them from discharging their duties and Avoid taking action against PTI.

The FIR was registered in less than an hour.

PTI chief Imran Khan addressed party workers and supporters at a rally at F-9 Park in Islamabad to express solidarity with Shahbaz Gill. Shahbaz Gill was arrested on August 9 for inciting the army to mutiny.

Khan’s statement

Addressing a rally at F9 Park, Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf alleged that Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry knew that Shahbaz Gul was subjected to torture, but did not release him on bail. He threatened to take legal action against the judge and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police.

Several portions of PTI chief’s speech were made part of the FIR. It said that the purpose of Imran Khan’s speech in this manner was to spread fear among the police authorities, the judiciary and the public.

Case lodged at Ramna police station

On the other hand, a request to register a case against Imran Khan was submitted in Ramna police station on Sunday.

Complainant Advocate Zia-ur-Rehman in his petition accused the PTI chief of inciting people to revolt against state institutions, making hate speeches against the army, judiciary and police officers.

Advocate Ziaur Rehman has further stated in his petition that Imran announced on Saturday that cases have been registered against PTI Islamabad IG Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry. will do He said that the threat of filing a case against the magistrate was tantamount to an “act of terrorism”.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Ramna police station Shahid Zaman says no case has been registered on the application yet as the incident took place at F-9 Park, which falls under Margalla police station limits.
