Govt Praised Minority FM, Mob Desecrated Hindu Temple

While the Pakistani government praised Zafarullah's effort for the country, a mob attacked the worship site in Rahim Yar Khan

On one side, the first foreign minister (FM) Zafarullah belonging to a minority community was praised for his services for Pakistan and on the other, a mob vandalized a Hindu temple in Rahim Yar Khan.

As the countdown to Independence Day begins, the government of Pakistan remembered the legendary hero Sir Muhammad Zafarullah Khan, who dedicated worked for the betterment and goodwill of the country.

Besides being the first foreign minister, Zafarullah was the author of the Lahore Resolution and a main representative of Pakistan Movement in the international community.

He also represented Pakistan at the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) as head of the Pakistani delegation and advocated the position of the Muslim world on the Palestinian issue in 1947.

Contrarily, a mob attacked a Hindu worship site, Ganesh Temple, in Bhong city of Rahim Yar Khan district and burnt it down, damaging the infrastructure and idols.

A video has been circulating on Twitter where the attackers could be seen filming their protest inside the temple.

Sources claim that the main cause of it was in reaction to alleged desecration of a Muslim seminary in the city.

A few days ago, tensions between Muslims and Hindus began after an eight-year-old Hindu boy allegedly urinated in the library of the seminary.

In this regard, Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication (SAPM) Shahbaz Gill confirmed that the government had taken notice of the untoward incident.

Moreover, Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari has also condemned the attack.

Considering the situation in Rahim Yar Khan, human rights activist Kapil Dev presented a list of temples that were destroyed this year due to religious conflicts.
