Senior journalist and anchorperson Hamid Mir has failed to predict and present facts regarding the current political situation including the threat letter, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) preparations for attacking the parliament and others.
Some journalists who are critics of the PTI government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan did not condemn the United States (US) as yet but continued disinformation campaigns and rumours regarding sensitive national and political issues.
Hamid Mir’s back-to-back failures in factual journalism have exposed as he had earlier claimed that the threat letter was not real but afterwards, it turned out to be a real one.
US ambassador Donald Lu refuses to respond to Indian newspaper
Before the voting on the no-trust move against PM Khan, Mir claimed that PTI workers wanted to attack the parliament, however, his claim proved false.
Later, he alleged that the content of the diplomatic cable was altered and the premier failed to provide evidence of a foreign plot against his government. A few days later, the NSC accepted the veracity of the diplomatic cable and protested with the US authorities.
PM Khan then revealed the name of the US diplomat, Donald Lu, who was involved in using a threatening tone toward the Pakistani government.
Opposition leaders, media critics did not condemn US so far
In a recent media appearance in India, US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu did not deny PM Khan’s allegations and refuse to respond to the question by the journalists.
On the media front, some journalists were trying to divert the public attention from the lettergate and others creating confusion regarding the veracity of the threat letter.
