Hareem Shah’s plea against arrest warrant rejected
The SHC dismissed TikTok celebrity's plea seeking orders to prevent police from arresting her upon her arrival in Pakistan.
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has dismissed TikTok celebrity Hareem Shah’s plea seeking orders to prevent police from arresting her upon her arrival in Pakistan.
Hareem, who is currently on a vacation in Malaysia, had filed the plea through her lawyer to avoid detention in an alleged money laundering case. The court remarked that Hareem can file a plea to avoid arrest after reaching Pakistan if she wants, according to the reports.
The judge inquired if Hareem Shah is the same woman “who claimed to have committed money laundering”.
“SHC provided security to Hareem Shah earlier as well but she misused the orders favouring her. Stop playing games with the court,” Justice KK Agha remarked while expressing annoyance at the social media sensation.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cannot be restricted from holding a probe, he added.
The bench observed that once again the petitioner had approached the court for the same relief in the same notice issued by the FIA. The high court observed that it was not inclined to exercise its discretion to give relief in favour of the petitioner as prima facie she had earlier misused the order of the court, according to The News.
The SHC observed that in case the petitioner had only received a call-up notice by the FIA, she may return to Pakistan and join the inquiry. Stating that the petitioner was not entitled to get relief as she had already misused the court order, the high court dismissed the petition.
