Has Imran Khan Cast a Spell on Amir Liaquat?

The legislator from Karachi went in with reservations over selection of candidates from Sindh but there was a caprice when he walked out

Upholding the norm of U-turn his party head is infamous, the eminent television host and PTI’s MNA Amir Liaquat Husain announced to cast his precious vote for the party candidates in the Senate elections happening today as if Imran Khan cast a spell on him.

Amir Liaquat met with Prime Minister Imran Khan a day before the Senate polls.

The legislator from Karachi went in with reservations over selection of candidates from Sindh but there was a caprice when he walked out.

Surprising his followers, Amir Liaquat took a U-turn and announced to vote for Federal Finance Minister Hafeez Shaikh as well as Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda.

When MNA walked out, he was surrounded by the reporters. Amir Liaquat refuted that he talked to Prime Minister about the Senate elections.

When the reporters asked who he would vote for between Yusuf Raza Gillani and Federal Finance Minister Hafeez Shaikh, he kept them in an ambiguity.

The lawmaker first said that he would vote for a ‘good man’.

Upon insistence, he replied to the reporters, “I would vote for the one who guards”. Interestingly, the name Hafeez in English means a Guardian.

Earlier, he had explicitly demonstrated his denunciation on choosing Vawda and Hafeez for Senate tickets and did not hold back to criticize the move of the party leadership.

He was amongst the party members who were deeply aggrieved over Vawda’s candidature and was a signatory of the letter sent to Sindh governor.

The lawmaker’s feelings for Hafeez were no different as he had announced that he would not cast his vote for him.

On multiple occasions, Amir had maintained that Hafeez Shaikh was part of PTI and it was too early that he was awarded the ticket.

He got rid of his grievances and indicated to vote for two and others in the Senate elections.

On the election day, when News360 correspondent tried to take his comments on Amir Liaquat’s suggestion that Vawda should not leave his national assembly’s seat for senate elections as he could get disqualified from both legislatures over dual nationality issue, the minister replied that he would only answer to the important questions.
