The medical report of the arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Azam Swati has sparked a new controversy as the medical board apparently rewrote the medical examination report of Dr Shahbaz Gill due to its issuance date.

The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital issued a medical report dated ’17 August 2022′ after examining Azam Swati yesterday.

Anchorperson Gharidah Farooqi also shared Swati’s medical report in haste without noticing the mistake.

Yesterday, PTI Senator Azam Swati was arrested for allegedly tweeting a “highly obnoxious and intimidating message” against state institutions, including the army chief, according to a criminal complaint filed by the FIA. The tweet came after the acquittal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz in the money laundering case on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters outside a sessions court in Islamabad, the PTI leader said he was not arrested for breaking the law, violating the Constitution or fundamental rights. He said he was arrested for “taking one name — of Bajwa — and that is the violation”.

When asked who arrested him, he said it was the FIA. When pressed about what case, he alleged he was tortured by “agencies”. “A parliamentarian has been unclothed,” he said. “I am telling the nation.”

He was taken to PIMS Hospital for a medical examination. The hospital issued his medical report dated ’17 August 2022′ yesterday, the same date on which Shahbaz Gill’s medical report was issued before he was discharged from the hospital.

Commenting on the development, Shireen Mazari tweeted, “When u create fake medical reports of people u illegally arrest then its these little things that expose you! Check the date on the medical report of Senator Azam Swati! The sapm-seeking journos who welcomed this report should have perhaps seen the date also! #ReleaseAzamSwati”

After public criticism, the hospital rectified Swati’s medical report and changed the issuance date.
