Release of Nawaz Sharif, leader of PML-N
On November 16, 2019, Lahore High Court ordered release of lifetime leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on medical grounds. court ordered his brother Mian Shahbaz Sharif to submit the order.
On November 19, Mian Nawaz Sharif left for London from Lahore by the latest air ambulance of Qatar Airways.
Mian Nawaz Sharif’s condition worsened on October 21 in custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore. During the check-up, it was revealed that his platelets had suddenly dropped abnormally. After which he was immediately shifted to the hospital.
According to facts, Mian Nawaz Sharif was granted bail on October 25 in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case on medical grounds.
On October 29, the court suspended Mian Nawaz Sharif’s sentence for two months in the Al-Azizia reference.
Court relief to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar
On September 23, 2022, the accountability court suspended the arrest warrant of Senator Ishaq Dar of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and annulled the arrest orders of NAB on the occasion of his arrival in Pakistan.
It should be noted that the hearing of the application against the permanent arrest warrant of the former finance minister was heard by Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court when Ishaq Dar was not present in the country. His lawyer Qazi Misbah appeared in the court on behalf of Ishaq Dar.
During his arguments, Misbah apprised the court of the reasons for issuing the arrest warrant and pleaded for its cancellation. On which the judge asked the lawyer if Dar is sick or there is some other problem?
Lawyer Qazi Misbah assured the court that Ishaq Dar will appear in the court straight after landing at the airport.
Later, the accountability court suspended Dar’s non-bailable arrest warrant till October 7 and adjourned the hearing.
Relief to Prime Minister’s son Sulaiman Shahbaz
Similarly, on December 8, 2022, the Islamabad High Court had stopped the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s son Sulaiman Shahbaz in a money laundering case. This order was also given by the Supreme Court when Sulaiman Shehbaz was in London.
Sulaiman Shehbaz moved to London in 2018 during the National Accountability Bureau’s investigation against him. Where he had been living with his family since last year.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq had directed the counsel of petitioner Sulaiman Shahbaz to present his client before the court by December 13, and the Central Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting him till then. was stopped.
Justice Farooq said that the petitioner must be present in the court to get security bail. The defendant’s lawyer told the court that Sulaiman Shahbaz is expected to return to Islamabad on Sunday.
Judicial relief to former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz
On April 8, 2019, the Lahore High Court granted the pre-arrest bail of Hamza Shehbaz, the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, until April 17, and stopped the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting him in the case of assets in excess of income.
The High Court also ordered him to pay a surety bond of Rs 10 million and issued a notice to NAB seeking its response in the matter.
It should be noted that on Saturday the NAB team reached his residence Model Town to arrest Hamza Shehbaz, but the team failed to arrest Hamza Shehbaz.
Judicial Relief to Maryam Nawaz
On April 12, 2021, the Lahore High Court ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to inform Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) Vice President Maryam Nawaz at least 10 days before arresting her.
This order of the Lahore High Court was in stark contrast to the Supreme Court’s 2019 order which said that the NAB need not inform the wanted persons in advance before arresting them in money laundering and corruption cases.
