Illegal parking is at its acme in Karachi for the past few months and since Murtaza Wahab of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has taken charge as administrator, the political workers have become focused to get lucrative parking contracts.
The areas including Saddar, Jama Cloth, and Garden have several illegal parking lots running under the administration of the encroachment mafia.
Additionally, the parking lots on I.I Chundrigarh Road and Sindh Madressa-tul-Islam Road charge hefty amounts from the motorists in the name of charged parking.

Karachi Traffic Police (KTP) have conducted several surveys and found it that the parking lots have been allotted by Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC).
Not only this, it was also informed that activists of different political parties have been actively involved in setting up irregular parking spaces in different areas of the city.
Additionally, the sources revealed that several KMC officials were also found involved in the encroachment of parking areas. The unauthorized parking areas collect millions of rupees daily.
While talking to News360, the citizens said that they have been paying up to Rs 30 for a motorbike and Rs 50 to Rs 100 for a car.
The locals demanded that the new administrator of Karachi Murtaza Wahab should look into the matter on an immediate basis while emphasizing the need to formulate a law for prevention of illegal parking lots.
