Imran Khan Just Pulled a Surprise on New AJK Prime Minister
His nomination of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan after general elections 2018 had also startled the front-runners for the post
Since his days being the captain of the national cricket team, Prime Minister Imran Khan is known to surprise by the selection of players and repeated the same while choosing new AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi.
Like his selection of unpopular candidates for the chief ministership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, Imran Khan also surprised Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi who has taken the oath as the new prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The new AJK premier had emerged as a dark horse for the post and several strong candidates including were Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, and Azhar Sadiq were sidelined.
Not just the party leaders but Sardar Abdul Qayyum was also surprised at being shortlisted.
He revealed this during a program on Aaj TV after swearing-in on Wednesday.

“I got a call at 5:25 am and was told that I have been nominated as the prime minister. I was surprised and wasn’t expecting that something other than the norms would be done”, he told the host.
Sardar Abdul Qayyum said that previously, the party or community heads used to become the prime minister and it was surprising that the norm wasn’t followed.
This is the third such surprise pulling by Imran Khan on the key positions of the government.
