Imran Khan-led PTI long march to kick off today

Imran Khan, PTI long march

LAHORE: Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is going to start its long march today which would be a contest of narratives of the former premier and the state.

Imran Khan will lead the PTI’s Haqeeqi Azadi [real independence] march starting from Liberty Chowk – Lahore after Friday prayers today.

Yesterday, the former premier said that his long march was not aiming to topple the government but to get real independence for the nation to choose their rulers.

In an interview with 92 News, Khan said that he does not want to malign the national institutions including the armed forces nor he was afraid of anything as he did not commit any wrongdoing or corruption.

He also clarified that he had not sealed any deal behind closed doors. Khan said that his political opponents were trying to disqualify him through the registration of cases against him.

The PTI chief was of the view that fresh elections are the only solution to bring political and economic stability to the country. In a separate statement, Imran Khan clarified that it will be a peaceful political event and the marchers will follow the law and will not enter Red Zone.

According to the schedule, it will take 4 to 6 days for Imran Khan-led long march to reach the federal capital.

Analysts said the nation will now witness whether Imran Khan would be able to be successful in his struggle based on his narrative about ‘real independence’ or the state.
