Imran Khan Losses Even From Jailed Leaders in NA Attendance

According to FAFEN’s data, Prime Minister Imran Khan attended only 21 of 195 proceedings of the NA conducted during three years period.

Demurring from what he used to say when he wasn’t at the helm regarding attendance of legislators, Prime Minister Imran Khan only attended the session of the National Assembly (NA) 21 times only since he assumed office three years ago.

Interestingly, the NA attendance of incumbent and former opposition leaders, who are currently behind the bars, is higher than the Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The data of the attendance of lawmakers from August 2018 to February 2021 has been released by Free and Fair Elections Network (FAFEN), an NGO committed to an Open Parliament, Good Governance, and Fair Elections in Pakistan.

According to FAFEN’s data, Prime Minister Imran Khan attended only 21 of 195 proceedings of the NA conducted during three years period.

This makes the attendance percentage of the premier to be around 11%.

Subsequently, the detained incumbent opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif remained present in 52 meetings of the lower house 26.6%.

Further, former opposition leader and parliamentary leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) attended 71 of 195 meetings. His percentage stands at 36.4%. between 2018 and 2021.

Notably, the ruling PTI MNA remained the highest attendant in the NA sessions.
