Imran Khan, Pervaiz Elahi adopt strategy ahead of Punjab CM vote of confidence

The leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi have saved their Chief Ministership by setting up the best strategy while making all the efforts of the federal ministers of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in vain.

On December 23, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman de-notified Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi for not receiving a vote of confidence from the assembly.

In the announcement of de-notifying the Chief Minister of Punjab, it was said that the CM will continue to work until the appointment of the new chief minister.

In the statement issued by governor, it is said that as a result of these facts that Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi yesterday evening according to the order issued by me on 19 December 2022 under Article 130(7) of the Constitution.

At 4 p.m., he avoided a vote of confidence, and after another 24 hours passed, he did not take a vote of confidence. Hence they are de-notified by the chief ministry.

However, on December 23, an application was filed in the Lahore High Court by the PTI for an injunction against the Punjab Governor’s order, and an urgent hearing was requested.

The LHC’s larger bench heard the case and suspended the order of Punjab Governor after the undertaking of CM Pervaiz Elahi and reinstated him and the Punjab cabinet.

A 5-member larger bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh of Lahore High Court (LHC) started the hearing after a break, and then lawyer Ali Zafar read out the undertaking given by Parvez Elahi.

CM Pervaiz Elahi’s lawyer submitted a written affidavit not to dissolve the assembly until the next hearing, in which he assured that if I am reinstated as the chief minister and the cabinet, then he will not dissolve the assembly until the next hearing.

During the hearing, the PML-N lawyer said that since the governor had asked the CM to take a vote of confidence, the court should oblige him to take a vote of confidence from the assembly.

On which the court said that it does not come under our jurisdiction to compel them to take a vote of confidence in the assembly.

The agenda of the Punjab Assembly meeting which started on January 9 was released, according to the agenda, questions related to the school education department will be discussed in the meeting, while Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s vote of confidence from the Punjab Assembly or not is on the agenda. There was no part.

In order to thwart the vote of confidence, all the federal ministers, Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Special Assistant Ataullah Tarar had also left Islamabad and were sitting in Lahore, despite all this, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi could not be forced to take a vote of confidence from the assembly.

On the other hand, Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman has tweeted that the Lahore High Court will dismiss Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as Chief Minister for not taking the vote of confidence.

The day of the hearing in the LHC came, but the PML-N did not convince CM for the vote of confidence.

Analysts said that PTI and Perviaz Elahi have saved their own chief ministership under a successful strategy and have put the efforts of PML-N’s federal ministers and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and federal ministers to shame.
