The rebuking of foreign diplomats by Prime Minister Imran Khan has come to fruition as the expats living across the world are witnessing a transformation in the attitudes of diplomats serving in consulates and embassies across the world.

In a recent incident, a Pakistani living in Canada’s capital Toronto was overwhelmed by how the Consulate General of Pakistan facilitated him in an emergency.

A user named Ejaz Ali shared the story of his cousin living in Toronto.

He wrote that his cousin’s father died last year and he had to return to Pakistan but the passport had expired.

The user’s cousin needed a Pakistani visa and it was Saturday.

However, the consulate staff went out of turn and asked the bereaved to come on Sunday for getting visa.

The next day, the user shared that his cousin reached the consulate and got the entire process finished within an hour.

When the bereaved person thanked the foreign diplomat, he told the user’s cousin that he should be thanking Prime Minister Imran Khan who had instructed the foreign diplomatic missions to keep telephone lines open round the clock as someone might have an emergency.

In April this year, Prime Minister Imran Khan had removed the ambassador to Saudi Arabia and recalled six other diplomats over complaints of diaspora.

Raja Ali Ijaz, ex-ambassador to Saudi Arabia was removed and placed under suspension while the deployed staff was recalled.
