Indian Confession is Victory of Pakistan’s Stance on FATF
Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi had accused India of politicizing a technical forum
Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confessed the vicious Indian role in retaining Pakistan on the grey list of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and dispelled doubts about its politicization.
S Jaishankar addressed a virtual meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during which he admitted that Pakistan is on FATF’s radar because of India.
The Indian confession has vindicated Pakistan’s stance about the politicization of the forum that serves as a global sentinel for money laundering.

FATF had retained the country on the grey list in June even though it had successfully acceded to 26 of 27 tasks.
This had thrashed Pakistan’s hopes of demotion in the FATF list as it had expected leniency by money-laundering watchdog after significant progress on all points except one.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had accused India of politicizing a technical forum.
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has also issued a statement after confession of the Indian minister.
Pakistan has always been highlighting the politicization of FATF & undermining of its processes by India. Following the recent confession by Indian Government, India’s credentials for assessing Pakistan in FATF as co-chair of the Joint Group or for that matter any other country are subject to questions, which we urge FATF to look into. 3/3
