Amid severe economic crisis, the Interior Ministry has sought Rs180 million funds to control the upcoming protest of PTI.

ISLAMABAD: Amid a severe economic crisis, the Interior Ministry has sought Rs180 million funds to control the upcoming protest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

After the PTI leaders hinted at unveiling the date of Islamabad’s protest once again, the interior ministry sought a supplementary grant of 180 million funds from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

The ECC will mull over a 13-point agenda in its upcoming meeting on Wednesday.

According to the meeting’s agenda, the ECC will mull over interior ministry’s request for Rs40 million funds for the installation of surveillance cameras ahead of PTI’s Islamabad protest and Rs140 million for maintaining the law and order situation.

Moreover, the interior ministry also demanded the supplementary grants of Rs1224.41 million for payment admissible to the families of deceased families under the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package and Rs5695.55 million in respect of CAFS for the CFY2021-22 to meet the Anticipated Excess Expenditure under OERE up to June 2022.
