MQM Bahali Committee head Dr Farooq Sattar has raised many eyebrows after being seen as a kind of defending the party founder Altaf Hussain in a talk show aired on AbbTakk News.
Dr Farooq Sattar appeared on a talk show aired on AbbTakk News in which the host questioned him to compare the anti-establishment narrative of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and MQM Founder Altaf Hussain.
Dr Sattar replied that the interpretation of Altaf Hussin’s anti-establishment was not required as compared to the statements delivered by Imran Khan who used alternative terms to target the military establishment. He said that Khan has indirectly targeted the establishment which is more dangerous than Altaf Hussain.
The MQM Bahali Committee head claimed that the PTI chief compromised national security and maligned the institutions, alleging that Khan had done the same work as the Indian intel agency RAW.

The host then questioned Sattar about his opinion whether banning both leaders over their anti-state rhetorics can be justified or not.
Criticising the ban on MQM founder in an indirect way, Farooq Sattar that the discriminative actions against Altaf Hussain and Imran Khan increased the sense of deprivation amongst muhajirs. He said after controversial statements, Hussain faced a complete ban while Khan was still allowed to freely address the nationals.

It is pertinent to mention here that MQM founder Altaf Hussain is facing his former devotees at the UK high court in the London properties case. It is the first time in nearly six years for Hussain to face his former devotees [MQM London dissident leaders] in the court.
The court battle sees MQM-P leader and Federal Minister Syed Aminul Haque, Voice of Karachi leader Nadeem Nusrat (former convenor of Altaf-led MQM) and Tariq Mir (Altaf’s former confidante) joining hands against their former leader and benefactor in the courtroom for the control of seven expensive properties located in the posh part of North London. Farooq Sattar and Waseem Akhtar will provide live video witness testimony against the party founder.
The MQM-P’s breakaway faction emerged on August 22, 2016, after a controversial speech by Altaf at a hunger strike camp in Karachi. At that time, the MQM-P was led by Sattar who publicly disassociated himself from the speech of Altaf and announced that he will run the MQM from Pakistan.
The matter is to be heard in two stages. The first stage will be the constitutional fight. Altaf’s MQM is relying on a 2015 constitution, but MQM-P disagrees and maintains they have their own constitution.
