Is Saleem Safi-Nawaz Sharif meeting in Europe just a coincidence?

The presence of renowned columnist and Geo News anchorperson Saleem Safi in Italy and his meeting with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif raised many eyebrows whether it was a planned meeting or just a coincidence.

Saleem Safi – a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) critic – shared a photo of him sitting with Nawaz Sharif during his visit to a European country on Twitter. He wrote in his tweet that he got an opportunity to hold an informal meeting with the PML-N supremo for a few hours.

He said that every Pakistani was worried about the issue of the army chief’s appointment, however, Sharif was quite satisfied and happy over the presence of Maryam Nawaz and Junaid Safdar alongside him.

Safi said that Sharif did not pay attention to his concerns over the developments in Pakistan. He then wrote that he realised the reason behind Sharif’s calm after the COAS appointment and Imran Khan’s failures in the long march.

It is pertinent to mention here that Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz departed for Europe visit after receiving diplomatic passports from the Pakistani government.

A few days ago, Safi tweeted that he is visiting scenic Milan city of Italy near the Switzerland border to spend holidays along with his friends.

Analysts said the meeting between Saleem Safi and Nawaz Sharif was held at a crucial time when the ruling PML-N is busy paving the way for its supremo’s return to Pakistan ahead of the 2023 general elections and dealing with new challenges after PTI announced to quit assemblies to demand fresh elections.
