Ishaq Dar rules out expectations to make Asif Ali Zardari president

PML-N's Ishaq Dar has ruled out expectations to give president’s slot to PPP's co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) central leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar has ruled out expectations to give the president’s slot to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, sources told News360.

The PPP has been pushing for the re-election of Asif Ali Zardari as the president, however, the PPP has not received its desired reply from the PML-N leadership.

The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is currently in London along with a delegation that included central leaders Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar and Qamar Zaman Kaira where he met the former prime minister and PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif yesterday.

Sources said that the first round of talks between Nawaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has failed.

PML-N has categorically refused to make Asif Ali Zardari president. According to sources, Bilawal’s return to Pakistan has been delayed due to the failure of the talks and he will meet Sharif again in the second round of talks.

PPP expedites efforts for getting president’s slot

Bilawal will meet former Nawaz Sharif today and try to persuade him for the presidency of Zardari.

PPP adopted a stance that the credit for the success of the no-trust motion against former premier Imran Khan and the election of Shehbaz Sharif as the prime minister should be given to the PPP who completed the required number of votes in the National Assembly (NA).

PPP claimed to appease several political parties to vote on the no-trust motion through the successful political moves of Asif Ali Zardari.

Ishaq Dar told News360 that Asif Ali Zardari’s name for the president’s slot was not in consideration.

On the other hand, the PPP Central Secretary Information Faisal Karim Kundi said, “There is no specific agenda of this meeting,it’s imp meeting between both leaders,@BBhuttoZardari & MNS before oath ceremony. Chairman Bilawal will congratulate MNS for successful constitutional oustation of Selected & over CM punjab election. There is no further agenda includes.”
