Application filed in IHC for criminal case against General (Rtd) Bajwa
Interviews given by General Bajwa to Javed Chaudhry and Shahid Maitla are tantamount to violation of Official Secrets Act, inciting sedition and chaos, petitioner requested action against both journalists and General Faiz also, registrar objected
An application was filed in the Islamabad High Court for registration of a criminal case against former Army Chief General (R) Qamar Javed Bajwa.
In the petition, a criminal case has also been filed against former DGISI Faiz Hameed and two journalists by justifying the revelations made by the former army chief in two interviews.
However, the Registrar Office of the Islamabad High Court objected to the application and asked the petitioner to approach the appropriate forum first.
In his petition, Atif Ali contended that the interview of General (retd) Bajwa was conducted “carelessly” and that journalists Javed Chaudhry and Shahid Maitla had no sense of responsibility in publishing it.
The petition stated that the disclosures made in the interview amounted to a violation of the Official Secrets Act, sedition, and sedition.
The court has been requested to issue instructions to the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to file an FIR against General Bajwa, General Faiz, and the two journalists.
