Its Between Army and Imran Khan: Fawad On DG ISI

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that the matter of appointment of DG ISI is between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistan Army.

Addressing the press conference after the parliamentary party meeting on Thursday, Fawad reiterated that the civil-military leadership is in consultation and the decision will be reached amicably.

The minister said all matters regarding the appointment have been finalized and the announcement will be made soon.

However, he added that he could not say whether the matter would be resolved in the next 24, 48, or 72 hours.

He said the relationship between the incumbent government and the military leadership as it is today is unprecedented in the past.

In this regard, he had also shared a tweet on October 14.

“The process of appointing a new DG ISI will be completed soon. The game that a certain section wanted to play on this issue has failed”, he said in the tweet.

The minister added interviewing candidates for the DG ISI post is a common practice, adding that making it controversial is inappropriate.
