Columnist Javeria Siddique seeks action against Netherlands-based blogger Ahmad Waqass Goraya for harassing women journalists online

ISLAMABAD: Columnist and journalist Javeria Siddique has sought action against Netherlands-based blogger Ahmad Waqass Goraya for harassing women journalists online.

After Ahmad Waqass Goraya launched allegations and abuses to the women journalists in Pakistan, Javeria Siddique asked people to report his abusive and threatening messages on Twitter.

Siddique also asked Netherlands’ Ambassador to Pakistan Wouter Plomp on Twitter to Goraya’s objectionable messages against women journalists on a daily basis.

She also asked the women journalists including Fareeha Idrees, Maleeha Hashmey, Sumaira Khan, Mehr Tarar, Gharidah Farooqi and Sehar Shinwari to file a complaint to Netherlands police besides sharing Politie Nederland’s contact number and social media links.

The columnist also shared some of the objectionable remarks of Ahmad Waqass Goraya in which he hurled abuses against the women journalists by calling them ‘whores’.

Sehar Shinwari, an actor and morning show host, said, “He is such a coward guy. He had to delete some of his tweets last time when I just mentioned Netherlands’ police last time.”

Maleeha Hashmey wrote, “Stay strong, Javeria! I reported him in Allah’s divine Court months ago when he attacked me in a similar nasty fashion.”

Ex-BBC Producer Dr Nazia Memon wrote a condemnation comment, saying, “Strongly condemnable. Even if he hates Pak army or hold personal grudges against women journalists, should control his language on social media. People here are more sensible and know “who is who” by trolling he’s exposing himself more.”

A journalist of Gulf News, Sana Jamal has confirmed to report Goraya’s abusive tweets.
