Following the fake news of airing the name of Junaid Safdar in Pandora Papers, Pakistan Television (PTV) Executive Producer and senior journalist, Aoun Abbas Sahi, corrected several renowned anchors.

The matter came into the limelight after a fake template was aired on several media channels with the name PTV on it.

Soon the news went viral, not only Maryam Nawaz but other political leaders lamented on media channels for spreading fake propaganda against Junaid Safdar.

Explaining the whole scenario, journalist Aoun Sahi schooled several prominent anchors of the media industry and gave them a tutorial on how to avoid airing fake news.

Aoun Sahi is an Islamabad-based award-winning journalist, researcher, media trainer.

He has vast experience of working with local and international media as well as development sector organizations.

Therefore, it won’t be wrong to say that Aoun has a sense of journalism and he is aware of how a journalist confirms his/her sources before airing fake news.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Aoun Sahi coached Naya Pakistan’s anchor Shahzad Iqbal that he shared the information at 11:12 PM quoting PTV, while its news anchor mentioned it at 11:13 PM.

Aoun also tutored Kamran Shahid who thinks that PTV is an excellent example of a Fascist form of journalism, saying that no one else could understand it better than him as he too has worked in PTV during the most democratic era.

Addressing Gharida Farooqi, he recalled that he had been in journalism since 2001 and therefore, he has a better understanding about reporting and being a credible journalist in Pakistan.
