KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl central leader and emir of JUI-F Keamari Qari Muhammad Usman announced to resist the demolition order for Karachi’s Madina Masjid given by the Supreme Court (SC).

After the SC order to demolish Madina Masjid established in Karachi’s Tariq Road 41 years ago to restore a public park, one of the business centres of the metropolis, JUI-F leader Qari Muhammad Usman paid a visit to the mosque and announced to defend the religious site at any cost.

While talking to worshippers at the mosque, he said that they will not hesitate to sacrifice their lives to defend Madina Masjid and no one will be allowed to demolish a single brick.

“The top court should review its decision. JUI-F will do everything it can [to stop the demolition of Madina Masjid]. If Bani Gala and Hayat Residency can be regularised then why a mosque cannot be regularised? We are ready to sacrifice our lives to protect a mosque.”

Qari Muhammad Usman was accompanied by JUI-F provincial financial adviser Maulana Muhammad Ghayyas, East District Secretary-General Hafiz Farooq Syed and the officials of the mosque’s administration.

“When a mosque is established somewhere then it will remain a mosque till the Dooms Day. Masjid will always be a masjid at any cost and its transfer is prohibited in accordance with Shariah.”

He was of the view that top clerics gave various religious decrees (fatwas) that prohibits the demolition of mosques. Qari Muhammad Usman said that the residents and traders had no place to offer prayers before 1980 here at Tariq Road. He added that the residents had established Madina Masjid and affiliated it with Jamia Uloomul Islamia, Allama Binnouri Town.

The JUI-F leader said that it was mentioned in the NOC that the secretary gave permission to construct a mosque at the Dilkhusa Park while citing the needs of local residents.

He said that personal properties are being regularised in the country then why mosques cannot be regularised. He reiterated that JUI-F is closely looking into the developments and they will shield the mosque at any cost.

On December 28, a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry had directed to restore the park on the site of Madina Masjid within a week.
