The ruling political parties have expedited efforts to recover their political strength in their strongholds after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) mounted pressure on the coalition government to announce an election date and a deadlock created in the dialogues post-conditional offer by the former premier Imran Khan.
Former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani had formally joined the JUI-F in the presence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday at the Sarawan house.
Welcoming to his politico-religious party, Fazl claimed JUI and Nawab Raisani had made efforts to protect the Reko Diq gold and copper project. Raisani also reminded his cordial relations with JUI-F when he was the Balochistan chief minister in 2008.
According to local media reports, former home minister Mir Zafarullah Zehri and former provincial ministers including Amanullah Notezai and Haji Ghulam Dastagir Badini also joined the JUI-F, however, a formal announcement is due to be made.
In another success, Fazlur Rehman and Hafiz Hussain Ahmed resolved differences and the senior politician announced rejoining JUI-F. Ahmed rejected JUI-F after a meeting with Fazlur Rehman at Maulana Abdul Wasay’s residence.
It should be mentioned here that Ahmed – the former JUI-F spokesperson – had been expelled from the politico-religious party in November 2020 after he criticised his top leadership over backing Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif.
Almost all political parties have started preparations for the 2023 general elections after political turmoil intensified due to unending political disputes between PTI and its allies with the coalition parties.
