ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and anchorperson Kamran Khan has expressed his thoughts that the ‘recipe to settle political turmoil is the announcement for new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) coupled with army-sponsored dialogues on fresh elections.”

In a Twitter message, Kamran Khan said that the recipe to settle political turmoil is the announcement of new COAS coupled with army-sponsored dialogues on the election.

Later, he claimed that Lt Gen Shamshad Sahir and Lt Gen Azhar Abbas would be new COAS and CJCSC respectively. He detailed that Lt Gen, Asim Munir is currently the senior most officer in Pakistan Army but he will retire a few days before the current army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on November 28.

Analysts questioned Kamran Khan whether it was his wish, prediction or suggestion to the political and military top brass.

They added how could the senior anchorperson be so sure about an ‘army-sponsored dialogues’ to end the political turmoil in the country when the establishment formally announced to no play any political role and remain apolitical multiple times.

When contacted by News360, the anchorperson said everyone would interpret his statement in their own way. He further revealed that the new army chief could replace the DG-ISI and DG-ISPR within one week after his appointment citing the current situation after the press conference.

Earlier in May, Khan had requested Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to use ‘power influence’ to end the ‘logjam’ in the country.

In a series of Twitter messages, Kamran Khan had said that the situation is grim on the economic front and it is getting bleak every hour. “This is not the case of interference in the political affairs.”

He had suggested, “The Corps Commanders and PSOs must meet under the COAS to use Alhamdolillah still intact power influence and respect of Pakistan Army to end the logjam.”

In another tweet, Khan said that General Bajwa should take notice of the catastrophic situation in Pakistan and the country is near bankruptcy while the corrupt political leadership is completely neglecting the danger. He asked General Bajwa that it is a crime to stay neutral despite having power to control the situation.

The journalist had criticised that the federal government has only two-vote majority in the parliament and it is doing efforts to at least dissolve the corruption cases including money laundering and fake bank accounts besides wasting the evidence. On the other hand, there is no government in Punjab, the biggest province of Pakistan, as neither there is a cabinet nor governor while Hamza Shahbaz and others have already vanished from the scene.
