KARACHI: Despite claims of placing a strict ban and police warnings against aerial firing on New Year’s Eve, a minor girl became the victim of a blind bullet while more than 18 people sustained injuries due to celebratory firing in Karachi.

Before the commencement of New Year’s celebrations in Karachi, police forces had issued strict warnings to the citizens for facing attempted murder sections in aerial firing cases.

However, the warnings turned ineffective as the metropolis became the centre of aerial firing and informal firework displays held at different localities.

The casualty rate has increased as compared to the last year due to aerial firing on New Year night as over 18 wounded persons were brought to different hospitals.

A minor girl lost her life on Friday late at night after being hit by a blind bullet in the Khawaja Ajmer Nagri area.
