Karachi’s Businessman Allegedly Killed For Sectarian Reasons
The police said the targeted killing was probably motivated by old enmity as they did not find out any traces of snatching
A young steel businessman was killed in Karachi’s Malir area on Wednesday which is being alleged as a sectarian killing. The 32-year-old Raza Zulfiqar was commuting to his office from home when two armed motorcyclists intercepted and opened fire at the victim.
The police officials presumed that the targeted killing was motivated by enmity.
The closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the killing has also been obtained by the police.
The incident occurred near Jamia Millia College in the precincts of Alfalah police station in Malir district of Karachi.

After Zulfiqar was sprayed with bullets by armed motorcyclists, he was rushed to nearby Shamsi Hospital and then to Jinnah Hospital.
However, the bullet injuries proved fatal and the young businessman succumbed to them and died.
The police seized the bullet cases from the crime scene that would be sent for forensic analysis.
The officials said that the offenders fired three gunshots of which two struck the victim.
The CCTV footage showed that armed bikers were following the young businessman’s car and sprayed it with bullets as it slowed down on a turn.
The police officials told the perennial investigation suggests that the targeted killing was motivated by old enmity as they did not find out any traces of snatching.
The slain Raza Zulfiqar was married and was associated with the steel and cement business in the metropolis and he had served as a Union Council (UC) Nazim in the past too.
Further, DIG East Saqib Ismail Memon said it was a targeted killing incident and they were probing into it from different aspects.
The sectarian factor for which Karachi’s businessman was probably killed is also under consideration.
