A Station House Officer (SHO) of Karachi police has gone against the grain by opening a rehabilitation center for the treatment of drug addicts.
For nearly a year, Sharifabad Police Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Khaliq Ansari is running the drug rehabilitation facility in Haryana Colony of Orangi Town area in Karachi.
There are currently 50 patients in the de-addiction facility and most of them are young. Abdul Khaliq has taken up the gauntlet to bring them all back to life.

The de-addiction center operates on donations from locals, philanthropists and some welfare organizations.
There are different wards in the rehabilitation facility which are sanctioned for different types of patients.
The young drug addicts are shown a glimmer of hope to retract to the lives and police official literally walks in the air to hear patients say that they do want to.
Sharifabad Police Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Khaliq Ansari claimed that they converted the same place into a rehab facility that was previously a safe haven for drug addicts.
When Ansari was Mominabad police SHO, he had learned that the site was a rendezvous of drug addicts and around 500 people used to gather there daily.
Regarding the rehab center, he told that the patients are counseled and provided with different activities which helps them to bring back to life.
SHO said they have televisions and music systems in multiple wards besides sporting and recreational activities for the inhabitants.
The police official-cum-social worker said that they have done arrangements for offering prayers too and try their best to keep the environment clean.
Abdul Khaliq Ansari said that more than 300 drug addicts have been discharged after successful recovery during the past 10 months.
