KARACHI: A video shared by senior journalist and anchorperson Kamran Khan has sparked debate on Twitter amid the rising trend of street crimes in Karachi.
Kamran Khan shared a video on Twitter yesterday which showed two street criminals on a motorcycle surrounded and snatched valuables from a family riding a car in Karachi.
He wrote a message on the video, saying Karachi police and Rangers Sindh should awake now over the rising crimes in the metropolis as such horrible scenes were witnessed nearly 2,500 times here in the first 22 days of 2022.
The journalist further said that five to seven families were becoming victims of the terrorism in every hour and many were killed but the law enforcement agencies were still sleeping.

Several videos were sent to the comment box of Kamran Khan’s tweet which clearly showed that some actors were reenacting a street crime incident. However, nobody has noticed the message linked to Khan’s tweet in which he was pushing the law enforcers to take serious steps for curbing such crimes.
A debate was started on the video of whether it is an appropriate time to scrutinise the research skills of a journalist or take serious action to curb the street crimes in Karachi.
Adeel Azhar wrote, “Just because Kami bhai shared the footage of a drama shooting in SMCHS doesn’t absolve Sindh government of the crime mess Karachi is in right now. These killers are now braver and more lethal.”

No respite for Karachiites in terms of lawlessness and lack of authoritative powers to the local administration seized by the Sindh government which made street crimes one of the top issues of the port city.
Two weeks ago, in horrible incidents of street crimes in Karachi, three citizens had lost their lives while trying to protect their valuables and beloved ones from the merciless armed dacoits.
Authorities found nowhere to protect helpless Karachi citizens who lost their lives to armed robbers in different incidents.
Three citizens had been killed by street criminals over resistance during the robberies including a trader from the Hindu community in Clifton, a newly-married young man on Kashmir Road and an elderly citizen on Super Highway.
A newly-married Shahrukh, 28, was mercilessly killed by an armed street criminal upon resistance on Kashmir Road after he tried to protect her mother and sister. The mugger had easily fled from the scene after snatching valuables and killing Shahrukh.
The mugger was later turned out to be a policeman who had been facing serious criminal cases but he faced no issues to continue his duties.
