Karachi Traders Defy Coronavirus, to Sit-in Outside CM House
The traders of metropolis announced to protest against two-day closure of businesses amid coronavirus situation
The traders of Karachi will stage a sit-in outside the Sindh Chief Minister House against two-day closure of businesses amid the coronavirus pandemic situation on Tuesday (today).
While addressing a presser on Monday, the traders’ leaders said that a single-day closure of markets incurred a loss of Rs 4 billion and the provincial government has decided to keep all businesses, except essential services, shut on Friday and Sunday.
Against the move, the traders announced to take out a rally in Karachi and stage a sit-in outside the chief minister’s house and they threatened to encompass it too.
The traders said that last Friday night, the administration forced them to close businesses across Karachi on the pretext of curbing coronavirus, therefore, they were compelled to stage a sit-in today.

Karachi Tajir Alliance, a representative body of traders, Chairman Hakeem Shah said that the loss incurred due to the closure of markets was not just suffered by the traders but the economy.
He suggested expediting the vaccination process instead of enforcing restrictions.
According to an announcement by Sindh government, Friday and Saturday had been declared safe days, and the business activities across the province had to be remained suspended on both days.
However, the provincial government later clarified through a new notification that the closure days would be Friday and Sunday.
