Karachi’s Fishing Community Yearns For Facilities

The combined population of all coastline villages is around 0.5 million but all share the same fate when it comes to health, education, and clean drinking water

The fishing community of Karachi’s coastline villages is surviving without basic facilities for eternity and with no hopes for a better future.

Several villages are situated on the coastline of Karachi including Rehri Goth, Lath Basti, Chasma Goth, and Ibrahim Goth.

The combined population of all coastline villages is around 0.5 million. However, all share the same fate when it comes to health, education, and clean drinking water.

The plight of Karachi’s fishing community continues as getting basic facilities seems a pipe dream and most of them are hopeless for any change.

The locals do not have any healthcare facilities, finding clean drinking water is like finding gold, and the term ‘education’ is ciphered.

Only the structures of schools and colleges exist in the villages but they are dysfunctional as the deployed teachers do not visit there.

While talking to News360, the poor fishermen of Rehri Goth said that they lacked many basic facilities there and the primary ones among them were health and clean water.

They expressed that the Sindh government has completely failed to address their problems.

In the facility-deficient village, Green Star Social Marketing established a free medical camp in Rehri Goth which was thronged by the locals who yearned for a medical check-up.
