Karachi is the provincial capital of Sindh and the hub of trade and economic activities with a population of an estimated 14.91 million. Karachi’s agony is surging due to a lack of facilities and plunging infrastructure and disappointed with the federal and provincial governments, the citizens of Karachi opt for self-help and solve their problems.
According to the correspondent of News360, the citizens of Karachi have been disappointed with the performance of both the provincial and federal governments over its dilapidated infrastructure.
Therefore, the citizens of Karachi have been helping themselves and have now even started repairing the roads unaided.
The Luminary Learning Circle Foundation (LLCF), a foundation to turn underprivileged classes into empowered and responsible citizens of Pakistan, has kicked off an initiative to fill the potholes on Rashid Minhas Road.
LLCF foundation has started filling the potholes and painting footpaths from Shafiq Mor to Sohrab Goth with the help of young volunteers.
Legendary Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad has been supervising LLCF with a vision to inculcate the spirit of self-help in the citizens of Karachi.
Recently, LLCF has initiated a cleanliness campaign to remove garbage and litter from the sidewalks and to pristine the greenbelts in the megacity. Several young volunteers and personalities from different walks of life participated in the campaign.
LLCF President Farooq Ahmed Khan addressed volunteers during the campaign and maintained that Federal B Area and North Karachi Industrial Areas’ Associations along with few private companies are also taking part in the ongoing road-repairing drive.
Notably, the recent monsoon in Sindh had led to urban flooding in Karachi after which a package of Rs.739 billion was announced to rehabilitate the infrastructure of the provincial capital.
However, despite the announced package, no rehabilitation work in the city has been witnessed so far.
